A good read. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Characters you both love and hate, at one and the same time. I was particularly struck by the relationship between the teenage daughter Jade and her father. Angst, angry tears and juvenile hate – and so much real love for her delightful, if weak, father simmering away quite happily at the same time underneath. Talk about duality. This writer knows a thing or three about the deep truths of human relationships and she writes about it all with a huge heart, great pathos and undeniable skill. One to watch out for. I hope we hear more about Sam McColl. All in all, a huge pleasure to read Shuffle.
